About Me

My photo
Well, when I was a little girl I would spend hours flipping through the pages of a huge catalogue called "Quelle" that my father had brought from Germany. It had glossy pages full of beautiful pictures of lovely rooms, furniture and furnishing and was written in a language I could not decipher. But I think the pictures left an ever lasting impression on my mind and I grew up to be 'me' who drools not over food (or that too!) but good interior design, colors and photography. I also passionately love coffee, films, books, music, white gladioli, solitude, risotto, donuts, and my life (not exactly always in that order). I live in Bombay, India with my husband and little daughter and they both have changed my life in many beautiful ways.

PRETTY WHITE ROOMS

After a very long time, I came across photographs that inspired me to blog again. Yes, visual inspiration is that important to me. I can't make myself write a post if I don't feel inspired. I know I am a lazy blogger but I just can't keep posting random stuff for the sake of being a regular blogger.  All the photographs below are from an online international interview magazine FvF where a bunch of friends photograph and interview people of different creative and cultural backgrounds. So I read some interesting interviews and saw photographs of painters, film makers, architects, dancers in their beautiful homes...beautiful yet unusual in their decor style, mostly European, and that says a lot, when it comes to decor style. I spent hours going through photographs of some artistic, moody, casual, bright yet subtle homes with lots of indoor plants and each with a distinct 'lived in' feel to it. The way the rooms and people are captured by the photographers is what inspired me the most. So today, for a change I photographed some corners of our house. These days you will always find me with my camera hanging around my neck as I am going nuts doing the photo shoot of the products for my online Store and its Facebook Page but today I took a break from all my Hamsa work (including photo shoot) and focussed on our home sweet home. I will share the photos with you some other day because today, I want you to see some beautiful images of white rooms (I wish I could migrate to a dust free country).

  1. I am very attracted to white and the glow that are always found in scandinavian houses. After many years of researching, the conclusion drawn is : the white glow in these places is the atmosphere - Rays of light reach without layers of pollution which otherwise contaminate the white light. in order to still feel the glow of white, the feel of ambience and understated can be bought with a combination of gray\grey and white.

  2. Yes, very true..that's why I want to migrate to a pollution free place where whites shall remain white and the grays will not look dull in the pure crisp morning light...Sigh...
