About Me

My photo
Well, when I was a little girl I would spend hours flipping through the pages of a huge catalogue called "Quelle" that my father had brought from Germany. It had glossy pages full of beautiful pictures of lovely rooms, furniture and furnishing and was written in a language I could not decipher. But I think the pictures left an ever lasting impression on my mind and I grew up to be 'me' who drools not over food (or that too!) but good interior design, colors and photography. I also passionately love coffee, films, books, music, white gladioli, solitude, risotto, donuts, and my life (not exactly always in that order). I live in Bombay, India with my husband and little daughter and they both have changed my life in many beautiful ways.

A TINY STORE CALLED 'HAMSA'

The second exhibition of Hamsa, began yesterday at my residence. Getting the house ready for this event was not as easy as I would like it to be. First, I encroached upon my husband's study room and shifted our 'shared' desk to the bedroom (and we like it better there!). Along went his books, papers, scripts, dvds and various gadgets and their cords (don't ask me where I dumped them). So when the room was totally bare except for our dining table that I planned to use to showcase the delicate Jaipur blue pottery, I kind of started visualizing what this place should look like! I wanted it to feel cozy yet not look cluttered with goodies, so that people can take their time and have a look at everything before buying. So, I got down to the task and after a non-stop ordeal of taking out products from cartons and suitcases and unwrapping the paintings and lamps from their bubble wraps, there was enough to fill the room. I used one of our book shelves and my daughter's cabinet and her old Moses' basket to display the quilts, linens, Jaipuri skirts. I also used a bench to stack the bed spreads and place mats. Our bay window came really handy and I could use up the window sill to display the lamps and some paintings.
When I was finally done, I had my dream store right in front of me. A place that I can call my own which reflects my personality and taste.  Now, when I walk into my tiny makeshift store, I pinch myself and say, "Hey, I made it!" and  it feels that my dream of having my own lifestyle store is going to come true vey soon.
Here are some pictures of my teeny tiny make shift store "Hamsa".
