About Me

My photo
Well, when I was a little girl I would spend hours flipping through the pages of a huge catalogue called "Quelle" that my father had brought from Germany. It had glossy pages full of beautiful pictures of lovely rooms, furniture and furnishing and was written in a language I could not decipher. But I think the pictures left an ever lasting impression on my mind and I grew up to be 'me' who drools not over food (or that too!) but good interior design, colors and photography. I also passionately love coffee, films, books, music, white gladioli, solitude, risotto, donuts, and my life (not exactly always in that order). I live in Bombay, India with my husband and little daughter and they both have changed my life in many beautiful ways.

A DESK FOR SANITY-Part 2

Last night I moved out of our 'shared' desk space. Picked up all my 'stuff' including my favorite yellow soft board (he never liked it anyway). Now my old desk is all yours my beloved hubby. Clutter as much as you want : )
As I began the process of setting up my 'desk for sanity' last night I faced several challenges.

Challenge No. 1 was to find a peaceful nook to set up my own desk.
A big challenge indeed considering my little daughter crawls to every nook and cranny of our apartment. It is going to be a tough task to protect my 'desk for sanity' from her tiny hands and talent for discovering everything that we try to hide from her. So I took a brave decision to set up her playroom and my study in the same room. A solution to her 'separation anxiety' bouts whenever mommy is busy blogging. Luckily enough we have a spare room in our apartment that we were planning to make into her playroom (I'm tired of picking up her toys from everywhere in the house), a playroom might encourage her to keep her toys in one place (wishful thinking! I know). So I set out in search of my sanity.

Challenge No. 2 was to set up my desk using all the stuff that I already have.
I guess I got inspired by certain blogposts of abowlfulloflemon  and took a decision of not spending a single penny on this project. But I needed a desk to set up my 'desk for sanity' and I didn't have one. Yes seriously! So I settled for a hand-me-down old glass top (ugly) coffee table which was lying in a corner of our spare room under heaps of discarded items.

Challenge No. 3 was to find inspiration on the web for a low seating work space.
There was none. Can you believe it!! I figured nobody sits on floor cushion and uses old coffee table for desk. But I will. Let Mahatma Gandhi  be my inspiration. He didn't have to work on laptops though   : (

So now my workspace has been set up. Though it is far from being my dream desk but it will evolve as I start using it and keep adding new stuff. Till then I am happy with my effort. Now, at least I have a nook I can call mine 'own' :  )

I love my desk : ))

Please drop a line if you like it too. Suggestions are welcome : ))

It's a lovely desk, would blend nicely in the playroom with that pink and yellow, your own little playstation. :)

  3. I am glad that the photograph made you observe your table : ) You can begin with cleaning each item and then organize them neatly. A clean and organized desk needs no decoration.
